Why Spend Time In The Woods?

With the fast paced lifestyle that most of us live, it’s important to slow down and pay attention to that which really matters, our wellness. My ideal recommendation would be for each of us to have the forest in our homes.

By that I mean, creating a forest experience in our neighborhoods. Depending on where you live, this would only be a dream. This is why I recommend that you make it an activity to spend a couple of days once every other month to go camping.

Camping to me is finding a place in the forest to be your habitat for a couple of days either in a tent or perhaps, a forest shelter.

Now let me share with you some of the benefits  that can be achieved from an experience like this.

Grounding

I am sure you are wondering what this is? Grounding according to me is connecting with the earth and feeling its energies. It is having an intimate moment with the earth and experiencing its awesome power.  It is understanding, trusting and appreciating the earth by being one with it. By this, I  also refer to a barefoot experience. Grounding however, has being defined in so many ways by others.

Time in the forest helps you escape the hustle and bustle of urban life, its fumes and noise and replaces these activities with fresh air and the medicine that is freely given by the trees. The phytoncides which helps us reduce our anxiety level, boosts our immunity and increases our happiness levels.

During this experience, you have an amazing opportunity to listen to the choir of birds sing in the morning, the loud, yet gentle sound of the creek and the amazing smell of the forest with different plant species.

Think of an experience in the woods like one in the Pisgah National Forest, a land of mile high peaks, cascading waterfalls and heavily forested slopes comprised of over 500,000 acres, the Pisgah is primarily a hardwood forest with whitewater rivers, waterfalls and hundreds of miles of trails.
