Weed,California

The City of Weed, California is nestled at the base of Mount Shasta in the Cascade Mountains and half way between San Francisco and Portland.

But the history of Weed, California is not related to marijuana. In fact, Weed was named after great man in the history of the United States.

The City of Weed gets its name from the founder of the local lumber mill and pioneer Abner Weed. Weed discovered that the area’s strong winds were helpful in drying lumber. By the 1940’s Weed boasted the world’s largest sawmill.

While Weed may be known for many things; I admire it from a landscape point of view. Please be my guest and enjoy a few of the images via my lens.
